Dholak is a Hand drum. It is a North indian musical instrument which produces sound when it is struck by a hand on both sides. A dholak consists of three main parts: large aperture, small aperture, shell. A large aperture makes low-pitch bass sounds and a small aperture makes a high-pitched treble sounds. A shell is made up of wood which must be very hard such as dried Sheesham or Mango Wood so as to make a more clear and sharp sound. Besides India, it is also very popular in Nepal and Pakistan.
